Introducing Witch hunter Wilhelm von Homburg aka the Mountain Scorge

I love going trough people's bits. There are always gems you never expect. That is why now and then I buy bits boxes etc from places like Ebay or Vinted. I try not to spend to much on it 10/15€ should cover it.

Recently I bought this little fella, a classic Mordheim Witch hunter. Minus some weapons.

The Stirland Piper

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor sigmar cometGreetings one and all,

It has taken me longer then expected to write my next little article.  Real life is a b*tch, with plans changing and time consumed.  My priority in the hobby world is painting, followed by gaming, and in last instance blogging.  So sorry folks; I don't know if I'll be able to do a weekly post or rather a more irregular interval for now. (probably the later)

But on to the business of the day, my Stirland Piper.  It all started with me deciding to have a hobby night with my friend Koen.  With a little less time and lots to talk about I decided to go for cutting and gluing rather then painting.  So on to the bitz box and the quest for the next cool new project.

I see a lot of people (including my self) converting a fantasy model to a 40k theme, but i rarely see it the other way around.  So we had a theme; converting a 40k model for Mordheim ...  One of the models in my collection was the imperial commissar and with some bits and pieces, form my Empire projects I soon had the start of a piper.

My focus for Mordheim is in "the men of the ostermark" but with a Piper; I could not let the opportunity go to include the pied piper story.  So my new hero had to come form some other then Ostermark, visiting Mordheim to clean it's streets.  Stirlands seemd to be the best place to start my expancion.

To complete the job I made a dramatis personae for the model here

Old Stuff Day 2014

old stuff day is march 2nd; and what do you know that's today.  I know I haven't been blogging for quite some time now, but maybe that can change (I'm not betting on it; but I am trying :) )  Fornow I am doing the best I can to keep involved with the comunity off-line and here and there online; and since I've got some back log on articles I can easily join in on old stuff day; so here we go.

The article I'm submitting for Old stuff day is my candle tutorial, I chose that article 'cus I keep going back to it myself and beceause I get a lot of questions about my candles every time I post a picture of one of my blood angels.  The candles are reacuring theme on almost every base in my ever growing army.

Apparentley due to new pollicy I get my White Dwarf a little later then the stores.  In my case that tends to make a subscribtion a little obsolete as the nearest retailer is almost literally next door.  But that and the fact that I had a working weekend did mean there was no update on the blog this weekend.  So let me make it up to you by doing another tutorial. In the meantime I get to remember how I do this stuff.  For the sake of pictures in this tutorial I didn't make the candles while on the base, but rather on the toothpick.

I’m not great at these thing, nor do I think I’m the great talent at painting or sculpting.  I do however bump on things I think are worth sharing with the rest of you.  One of these things are the candles I include on my Blood Angels.  As the picture shows; it’s all fairly straight forward.

First I use a tooth pick cut it to length.
Next up are the dripping lines.  I do those by just adding green stuff to the sides and making vertical carves with a needle like sculpting tool. Top of the candle is made by pushing a ballpoint tool on the top The drop is made by pushing at the end of the drop
Third part is the flame.  I do this by just rolling a little egg like form and carefully pushing it in place with the needle point (sometimes using a little glue)

I use greenstuff for these kind of things as it gives a better curing effect.  I like using brown stuff, but it gets a more straight finish; Green stuff tends to curve slightly when handled, and candles tend to do the same :o)

Hope it inspired some people.
If you’ve got pointers or experiences; let me know.

old stuff day 2012

Greetz one and all,
Last year I found this “old stuff day” and I loved it on the spot.  It actually gave me the idea for Way Back Wednesday posts.
But back to 2012 old stuff day.  In short I share what I think is a cool old post from my blog and from some other blogs I’m following.  And other people do the same ;o)

First up my own selection for the day.  My blog is going for 2 years now so there is not that much real great posts.  But I guess that besides form last years halflings I really like my candle tutorial.

This blog is pearl in my eye.  I just picked a cool post; but actually it’s worth visiting every once and a while fuck yeah rogue trader

Not that Dave Taylor really needs more post counts but this is one of the best tricks ever; although I still have to try it myself. mark of the dark gods

Another great advice I still need to look at :o)

Blood Angel Librarian

Greets one and all,

As I’ve mentioned time and time before, there are some issues in my agenda. Things keep popping up and prevent me from having the hobby time I would want. But a man has to do what a man has to do ;o)

This week I’ve cheated a little bit. Like last month this model is from my collection and actually was painted a few years ago. Although quite satisfied with the result, up until now this lexicanum was part of my Ultramarines. I love the Ultramars, but decided to leave them for what they are for the moment, and get on with the Blood Angels. I don’t have a Librarian in my force yet, so why not just change his chapter badge and be done with it.

After doing the badge, which looks a lot cleaner in real life, I decided to add a campaign badge for Armageddon and lighten up the red runes on the staff a bit.

I bet all of you have models painted up for all different kind of projects laying around. Some of them could probably quite easily be adjusted for you current project. Why not just do so… It took me some time, but I figure better 1 army worth fielding with lots of cool character stuff, then all these lose ends laying around. I’m not saying I’ll never do any other army then Blood Angels, as a matter of fact those Grey Knights look very tempting, but I hope I can at least finish this army for once, and adding to an army is always easier then building a new one.

Introducing; Mudocks Mutants

Greetings fellow gamers,

I’ve been looking around in my figure case, and found these models from a couple of years ago. Around the time when I started with this blog. The paint job is not the best ever but good enough for my Inq Munda stuff. And so they join the collection.

The model: The models I used are some old OOP orks with new genestealer bits and chaos mutation sprue, and a necrarch Vampire with a celestial wizards head.
The painting: Like I said nothing to fancy, this were my first diped models.
The Game: These will be used as Hybrids rule wise we’re still not playing so who cares ;o)
The Inquisitors thoughts: Murdock and his mutants; We found them below Hive Heraldus on Claxton IV about 15 years ago. It was quite a hunt exterminating the lot, we had to burn trough levels 04 to 16

Old Stuff day

Greetz one and all,

A few day's ago I found this post on Warhammer 39.999 a very cool initiative. It got me wondering; what is good enough on my blog, where am I proud of. There are a lot of things I like, series I want to keep going.
I'm not stopping with my Blood Angels and I'll keep going with my introducing ... although it's very quiet in these projects.

On to the old post; I like it because of the style, it all seems to fit. I wanted to write all my post in the same sense. And I try to keep some spirit in my posts, but this seems to be the best ever; and the first ;o)

And here we are again;
2 posts in 1 day; must be my personal record.
A friend of mine (hi steven) asked me to make him some Halflings for a new super secret project for our club.
How to make halflings in 1 dinner

Ingredients:

1 courgette
2 red paprika’s
1l un spoiled water
1 Spice cube
1 old goblin spearman
1 halberd arm (bretonia)
1 head of choise
A pinch brown stuff.

First slice all your vegetables in small pieces and put on a light stove and brace with some butter.

Meanwhile you take the goblin and chop of the spear arm and head
Take a look at the vegetables; these should be braced lightly; add the water and leave to cook

Trim the neck and arm of your choise
Glue them on the goblin with super glue.

Take a look at the soup if the water is boiling add the spice cube.

Meanwhile the glue should have dried, and you are ready to add the brown stuff.

First off the belly, some puffy sleeves and last but not least the cheeks

Now your soup should be ready; pour your self a cup and enjoy for a moment.

Take a small walk trough the garden and enjoy the sound of the birds singing, the gentle touch of the wind through your hair. Take your last sip from the soup and go back in.

Your brown stuff should have cured for a bit by now. Time to do the finishing touches.

Adding the jacket, hair; and all other sorts of details

By now it should be time to start cooking diner. Put the Halfling on the shelve and start by picking your meat and vegetables

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

Using this technique I made some others aswell
Ripper
Empire Mootlanders (in all sorts of units)
