Introducing Witch hunter Wilhelm von Homburg aka the Mountain Scorge

I love going trough people's bits. There are always gems you never expect. That is why now and then I buy bits boxes etc from places like Ebay or Vinted. I try not to spend to much on it 10/15€ should cover it.

Recently I bought this little fella, a classic Mordheim Witch hunter. Minus some weapons.

All the small things

Greetings one and all,

In the last few years I've shifted my focus from "all over the place" to at least skirmish Projects only and primarily fantasy. Gaming systems don't realy speak to me, more the aesthetics of things. So the nostalgia of 6th edition and Mordheim are a big win 🙂

On a mechanical stand point (what the rules do) I realy don't care. I'd love to do things like rangers of shadow deep or pulp alley. But like I said not a rules kind of guy so as long as my gaming buddy's are not doing it it will probably not happen.

For the meat of my post I would like to take you in to the world of scenery building. Like I said, not going for big projects any more, and I saw gaming spaces shrinking. The new kill team as per example.

So I decided to make a small table using a Ikea frame (as a friend suggested) 90/60cm I believe.

Started out making some scenery here and there basing them all to match. And making some woods to fit them together.

The thing I found most rewarding is "the story go's on and on". For instance I've ordered some 3d prints inspired by the grudge of drong campaign. 3 buildings exactly like the cardboards in the box. Nice. Painted them up, based, flocked... nice

But you know what would be cool, a road in dwarven fashion ...

Or a mine entrance to match
Or ...
So, I keep on building on several tables. I'm sure if I put all of this together it would easily fill a themed table.
I'm enjoying this new approach and will gladly take you on a tour table by table 🙂

[review] Der Gaukler vol 1

Not realy one to write a book review, but I felt like sharing the experience I had with my latest kickstarter :D

Der Gaukler vol 1

I backed the minimum starter (41€) which was the book only; my trove of opportunity is more then high enough as it is so I did not opt for the stl’s or mini’s. I went in to this kickstarter with some doubt; “I’m not that much of a rules dude” why would I buy a fan made expansion … Because I would like to make my own little book and this could be an inspiration … So now you know how I stepped in to this journey …

The Stirland Piper

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor sigmar cometGreetings one and all,

It has taken me longer then expected to write my next little article.  Real life is a b*tch, with plans changing and time consumed.  My priority in the hobby world is painting, followed by gaming, and in last instance blogging.  So sorry folks; I don't know if I'll be able to do a weekly post or rather a more irregular interval for now. (probably the later)

But on to the business of the day, my Stirland Piper.  It all started with me deciding to have a hobby night with my friend Koen.  With a little less time and lots to talk about I decided to go for cutting and gluing rather then painting.  So on to the bitz box and the quest for the next cool new project.

I see a lot of people (including my self) converting a fantasy model to a 40k theme, but i rarely see it the other way around.  So we had a theme; converting a 40k model for Mordheim ...  One of the models in my collection was the imperial commissar and with some bits and pieces, form my Empire projects I soon had the start of a piper.

My focus for Mordheim is in "the men of the ostermark" but with a Piper; I could not let the opportunity go to include the pied piper story.  So my new hero had to come form some other then Ostermark, visiting Mordheim to clean it's streets.  Stirlands seemd to be the best place to start my expancion.

To complete the job I made a dramatis personae for the model here

The men get a Judge

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor sigmar cometGreetings one and all,
A few years ago I had this “brilliant” idea, that I’ve worked on ever since.  Why are there no Mordheimers in Mordheim …  Where are the people that lived there, that want to reclaim their land be it on true or false grounds.  It’s a time of civil war, the government of Ostermark is corrupt and in disarray, why is no one claiming this region as theirs, apparently there is a lot to be found with all these war bands flocking to city of the damned?

One of my first real fleshed out idea’s was a Judge, roaming  Mordheim to clean it’s streets.  Not like a witch hunter but as a policemen patrolling “his” city …

top left; original necromancer; top right first attempt X years ago
bottom left cleaned up conversion bottom right final conversion concept.

My local gaming group picking up Mordheim again gave me some incentive, as did the “Hired Swords” completion on the Mordheim Facebook group.  (although I misinterpreted there rules and made a dramatis personae J ) To pick up the model once again and get it finished at last after (I don’t know) 12 years or so …

I stayed true to the original concept of the conversion, gave the right arm another purpose and gave him another hat.  The right arm is from a Skaven kit with a repositioned thumb (making left right etc J )  There are a lot of things that could have been better; but that’s what got him stuck in the project box in the first place so overall I’m pleased with the result and glad that he can actually roam the streets of his Damned City …

I even made some rules for Judge Johannes Wagner; not that I claim to be a rules writer or rules lawyer or anything like that. It was part of the challenge :)

so by doing this I completed one of my Bingo goals; finish an old project

Intoducing Burgomeister Idisvald von rotersnee

Greetz one and all.

As I said a few months ago I'm planning on doing some more empire work this year.  Officially it'll be under a Mordheim theme, but I don't know way I'll use the men for at the end.  I just want to see all the work I did at the start of this blog come to a use (finally ;o) So why not start somthing Mordheimy.  At the end Mordheim was the capital of Ostermark so it makes some sence :o)

Today sees the arrival of my burgomeister. The man who claims leadership over the lost city. Although there are a lot of people renouncing his title, he does seem to have several warbands under his banner (all with there own agenda offcorse ;)

The model: He is made of several Empire kits; but I think you can bring it all back to the Great swords, the huntsmen, and some greenstuff ;o)

The paintjob:  I wanted to mimic my other Empire models from way back when I started this blog.  So darkened with some black and highlighted using some white in the mix.

The Game: I’m a real lover of cards these day’s.  The plan is to make Mordheim cards for all my models, so they can act as little independent characters of there own.  I mean to make little individual gang ratings for all models allowing me to choose which leader I’ll use when playing.  Now to find an opponent, preferably one that agrees to this gaming technique ;o)

The men get a new destination

Greetz one and all,

Some of you might remember my ostermark models from a few years ago.  I had this brilliant idea of making me a new army ...  Unfortunately it didn't succeed and ended up on the dust shelf.
Well now, a few guys at the goblins started a mordheim "campaign" and gave me the perfect excuse to adapt my existing models and think about some new ones here and there :-)

And so the strory re-starts.  I've already seen that most of the models are not quite what I'll need in Mordheim (halberdiers are not the chissel I think)  But the haflins are in, as are some of the great swords.  My lord is an option for later on, and the dwarfs are good to go (although they count as regular humans in the gang)  Except for a (I think Middenheimer) Human gang; I'll try and do a witch hunter gang aswell (have a box of flaglants laying around and a converted Witch hunter ready to go)

But let's have a look at some WiP pictures shall we ...
