Wayback Wednesday Alien cactus

Greetz one and all,

This weeks update could be a wayback Wednesday or even my first back issue and even fits in the war of Iron scenery :)  But first up a new “rule” in posting; for the moment it will be 1 post a week on Wednesday.  With the current buzz in the household I can’t push it much more.  Second I need to thank Steven, Yves and Pascal for the great ‘reenactment’ of “The War of Iron”.  I didn’t have such a great evening to start with, but the game made up for a great deal. It was a lot of fun guy’s, and I’ll give some more details next week :o)

Again to the model; this is my interpretation of those way back cactuses from second edition; enjoy :)

Greetz one and all,

I must admit I love these way back things.  You could call it a form of Nostalgia, but It’s more then just thinking about what used to be or “the better day’s”.  As a matter of fact, I don’t believe in those so called “better day’s”  What I do want to get more out of my investments so looking back and (re-)discovering some cool stuff is always a nice treat :o)

This weeks Way back model is an old Chaos  Nurgle champion a model I got my hands on some time ago but never got to painting it up.  I intend to use it for a ItEn chaos warband

Greetz one and all,

I must admit that I myself like this series of articles, so I’m giving it my best shot to keep it going.  There could be a point in time where my models run out.  But lets admit It will be a while and when we get there hopefully the new stuff now will be the way back then ;o)

Anyhow, today’s model in a Privateer press Widow maker.  Female models are always up in market, a lot of people like them better for some reason.   I like this model because of the feel.  Overall I don’t like the dungeon punk Warmachine publishes, although I’m a fan of steam punk.  This model is one of those exceptions in there range.

I painted this model for one of the previous Golden Goblin Paint challenges, again :o) There are a lot of things I can do better these days but overall I still like the result.  Didn’t find a use for the model though.

Greetz one and all,

First and for all; sorry about the bad picture. I knew what I was going to do today and what I was going to say, just didn’t find the time to make the picture.  So had to use artificial light
I normally make my pictures outside, but not today.
The model is from way back from the rogue trader day’s, and out of production (you don’t say ;o) Ppl form Mantic are working on something that looks a lot like they could be used for these guy’s.
I got these in a trade with Koen, who regrets it still.  I painted them about a year ago for our Tsarenka campaign.  Unfortunately we didn’t really get to use them as I intended.  But that just means I can recycle them for ItEn now ;o)

Greetz one and all,

In a few day’s time “the Golden Goblins” are holding there first annual barbeque with bitsswap, so I’m holding a Bitzkrieg, sorting out all my bits and throwing out what I think I won’t use in the near future.  I’ve actually found a lot of interesting stuff including some old classics (of which I already traded a lot ;o).

But amongst all these there was this Harry Potter Wizard from GW from way way back (if I’m not mistaken he was in one of those first talisman expancions)  I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this model ; keep it or ditch it.  So if you have any advice :op

I like this model because it has a nice feel to it; the paint job is a bit off and old school, lots of stuff I would do different now; but not planning to re-do him soon (in my current planning :o)
don't know who sculpted him or in what year, I'll dig in the archives one of these day's and maybe update ;o) (found it ... upper right corner)

Greetz one and all,

I’ve been off-line for a couple of weeks, sorting out some things in real life and taking some vacation with the family.  It gave me time to prepare some articles and maybe ensure a swifter post count for the future.  I planned some time clean up my gaming closet but didn’t find the time to fully get the job done, more luck later this month.

As I said before I found this model while cleaning out my closet.  It’s one of those models I made just for the experience of converting and trying out some new things.  The model was done way back when the Terminators where first released.  I was pretty satisfied with the result, but fear I’ll have to get rid of him anyway as he doesn’t fit in my Blood Angel collection, I could re-do some iconography but that won’t be enough I fear.

I was satisfied with the helmet but is also one of the more controversial parts of the model.  A lot of people found it looked to much of a doglike helmet.  The second great experience in converting this model was the heft of the crozius Arcanum.  I did this by rolling the end of my Exacto knife over a piece of green stuff and then rapping this around the metal of the heft, cutting away the excess piece of green stuff and turning it so the cutline isn’t to obvious. (I perfected the technique since then)

Over all I find this a nice model in my collection but as I said before regretfully it doesn’t quite fit the theme of my current collection so it’ll have to go.

Greetz one and all,

today's wayback isn't from that long ago.  It's the pilot from the Battle for Macrage (the 40k box before this one) Along with the way cool scenery I really loved this little plastic dude.  You can't really incorporate him in any army.  You could make a count as for Imperial guard or Inquisition.  But as he is, a pilot from a crashed Aquila Lander ...  And that is exactly why I love this model and he deserves to be in my wayback coolness list (or something like that :)

I remember opening the box, and instantly looking at the possibility's of this model, I fear I have several incarnations still roaming around somewhere in my bitz box.  And I'm sure I'll include him in other projects as well.

I've painted him some weeks ago but never got around to basing him (should he be in my Blood Angel force or in my Inquisitor munda, ...)  But I made the decision, got it over with and included him in my blood angel force as some kind of objective or another.  We'll see :)

Greetz one and all,
Again time for wayback wendnesday or is it “to long ago Thursday” I really have to get that agenda under control ;o) This month’s model will end up in the dip by the end of the week; Dip this time meaning disolvant (assetone); and re-painting him for either my Blood Angels or for InquisitorMunda as a Scythes of the emperor.

But why did I pick this guy, not for his paintjob, it was good enough for that time, but now … This model reminds me of the old style commanders that where way cool. It’s the only one I’ve got left but you know which ones I mean. I think he’s been re-sculpted over the years, but I don’t know for sure. One of the cool things for the metal age; now the plastic kitbashing makes models with such Iconic feel less obvious (but not impossible; Doghouse marines for example)
Anyway, I like this model and will be giving him a proper paint job this time around (or at least I hope I will)

Greetz one and all,

This is the first of yet again a new series.  I got the idea when surfing around the net.  I bumped in to the inner geek who launched it a while back, so asked his permission to do the same over here :o)
In this first installment I want to talk about how it all got started all those years ago.  I started out with a Fantasy army of Dwarfs for the simple reason I didn’t need to buy the extra magic expansion box.  The Iron Breaker was one of my first models to buy, I call them my poultry unit :o), and is still one of my favorite models  as is the anvil guard.  Painting wise they could have used a more experienced brush, but I’m not planning on redoing them yet.

As you can see with the white dwarf model, my style of painting changed a lot over the years
